Yes, it does ask--and answer--life's most basic questions IF you begin at the beginning as the Greeks always did. That beginning is called "Being". The necessary associated idea is "Becoming"; before you can understand what something may become, you must understand what is "predicated" of it, and to do that you must first understand what it is--"Being". We may therefore say that "life's basic questions" are predicated on what "existence is", and what it is--is called Being. The Greeks did not have the word "existence" as we do.

Philosophy does study the questions of life but it can only arrive at a probability of Divine Creator. For a surety of such, one must apply the spiritual enlightenment of faith.

I think Philosophy can not be restricted to any particular kind of topic or issue like that...... anything and everything can be studied philosophically, because philosophy is a way of critical thought that can be applied to anything and everything.

One Mr. Avinash Chander Bose was my professor during my college days. He is a versatile and knowledgeable person. Mr. Bose knows most of the basic question that can arise in the minds of modern people. Next week, I will be in Calcutta. I will seek his clarifications and guidance about it and then let you know. By the way, what is "Dose".This particular word is only misleading me.

May be you are refferring to Metaphysics—This is one of the four main branches of philosophy besides epistemology, ethics and logic. Metaphisycs is the study of the ultimate nature of reality—of God and the universe and consciousness. According to the dictionary: The branch of philosophy that examines the nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attribute, fact and value.
