Vocal characteristics like the actual timbre of the voice can be inherited. However, SKILLS are something that is learned. The only way you would get your "skills" from your relatives, is if your relatives were actually voice teachers that had the proper training and background to teach singing.

Well I think you can inherit good vocal equipment e.g. good vocal folds, large skull and large chest i.e. excellent resonating cavities but, as for skill,musicianship, style and technique, the rest can all be taught

I think I can sing pretty well, or at least recognize the different notes! My dad, my uncle and cousins on my dad's side, and my grandfather on my mom's side are all very musically talented. :) Edit: I don't know if this proves anything, but my brother has a lung capacity that's well over 200%. His voice resonates extremely well. It's interesting, because my grandfather sung opera.
