I tried buying from the store. They said I would have to get one from the computer manufacture. Also you will have to give them your service tag# and express code# so they will know what disk to send you. You want have any choice of which version. You will get the same version you have.

which laptop do you have. if you have windows 7 installed when you got the laptop then it most likely does have a recovery partician built in that will hold the operating system, all the programs that came with the laptop and all the drivers needed for the laptop to work. google your laptop eg : 'Dell Restore to factory settings' and you should be able to find instructions on how to find the recovery tool or boot to it.

You should have created the recovery disk set it recommended when you first used it. To get all the correct drivers for your machine you will need to have an original recovery disk. You will need to buy one from the manufacturer.

Don't buy it from the store, buy a replacement from the manufacturer. It costs (at least for my laptop) 25 + 10 shipping compared to 100+ for a new one.
