It is not possible to overcharge the battery.  Due to the characteristics of lithium-ion and lithium-poly batteries, every such battery has an integral microcontroller to control charging, and to monitor cell health and temperature, which is necessary because they cannot tolerate overcharging at all.

"Smart"/electronic charges should never overcharge anything. Tips to help battery: Keep it charged, to keep its maximum capacity, a dead battery will shorten its life (charge cycles) and power (maximum electrical capacity) ESPECIALLY IF ITS NOT CHARGED OVER TIME, that will kill a battery fast including overheating (indicating something is wrong) Turn down brightness as the screen uses a HUGE (%age) and will often DOUBLE your runtime
