You were right, less money but less work. If you couldn't cut it handling it by yourself you could have been fired which is worse than less money.

i think you made a smart move you dont want to cause problems in the restraunt for alittle more money you should ask to try a weekday first by yourself and if its easy enough try the weekends

Better to make a little bit less money but continue to have a job. Telling him you can do it yourself then failing miserably because it's not a one person job could end up getting you fired and 2 people hired to replace your insufficient work. This comes from a chef in a kitchen that runs breakfast/lunch service pretty much solo on 99% of days. When you need help you need help and you're better off getting it than trying to do it all by yourself and failing.
