Since I collected unemployment benefits AND food stamp benefits last year, yeah, I'm JAZZED that people pay taxes. And as a US citizen I am happy to pay my taxes so that when someone else is as unlucky as I was last year, they can get the help THEY need, too.

Answer #8 | 14/01 2014 09:54
Yes, the US government spends 365 billion tax dollars each every year in foreign aid to countries and some of those countries hate us. I believe in taking care of American families first and foremost. No child should ever go to bed hungry while the US government pays wealthy farmers to NOT grow anything. The US government also buys up food and puts it in storage to keep the prices at a certain level. This is because the US has some of the best and largest amount of farm land, which could produce enough food to feed the entire world. Google the names of the people in government who are receiving farm welfare (subsidies) sometime. Obama was not the president who gave low income families the free phones. That was an act of congress. and was because they had removed the public telephones. That occurred long before Obama took office.

Answer #9 | 14/01 2014 09:32
The problem is that this spending is too low. In the past five years, all wealth produced in the US has gone to the wealthiest 2%. One reason or this is that tax rates on unearned income are too low, which leads to an underfunded government. If the US increased taxes on the rich and increased the spending you mention, the economy would speed up, and millions of people would rise out of poverty.
