It saves on the system because all game discs are read only.

They save on the system. I once tried bringing my copy of Brawl to a friend's house, and none of my stuff was there. There's a whole night ruined.

Since the PS1... All disc-based game systems store your saveplay data on some type of memory storage device... Since the XBox... All consoles (including the Wii) have INTERNAL STORAGE... NOTHING IS SAVED ON THE GAME DISC! GAME DISCS ARE READ-ONLY MEDIUMS! Therefore, when you borrow the game from your friend, you'll have to start a new save file on YOUR Wii & any saves will be stored on YOUR Wii... NOT your friend's Wii (unless you actually borrow it as well, but doing so without permission is stealing... which is HEAVILY FROWNED UPON in most civilized societies). When you return the game, you friend will be able to pick up where he left off without any problems.
