Statistics show most players allow a computer to pick the numbers so there for most jackpot winners come from, computer picked numbers.

From the Powerball FAQ: WHICH HAS THE BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING: COMPUTER PICKS OR PLAYER PICKS? About 70% to 80% of purchases are computer picks. About 70% to 80% of winners are computer picks. Perhaps just one of those weird coincidences?

It's probably even because the lottery is random. It's like roulette. Some people think that it's possible to predict what range the next number is going to land based on previous numbers but there's no truth to it. It's random. Just because the ball landed black 4 times in a row doesn't mean it's going to land on black next.
