I may be wrong, but I think I remember you saying that you aren't working on a sprung or floating floor. That will cause shin splints for anybody no matter how carefully they work. You could even end up with a stress fracture. If that is the case, then you need to find another studio to study in. If I remembered wrong, then forget about what I just said. This pain usually begins as a dull ache that can't be pinpointed; it can be felt along the entire region where the muscle attaches to the bone.
