Even if it's in the family it can still be productive. Although that maybe why they gave you two types of antibiotics, to help the other out.

MRSA (methicillan resistant staph aureus) can become resistant to methicillin. Having both antibiotics will help fight off infection. Taking methicillan by itself many times can cause the infection (staph aureus) to become more resistant -- thus becoming methicillan resistant stap aureus (MRSA). Your wound should heal with both antibiotics.

Are you sure they said MRSA & not MSSA (Methicillin Sensitive Staph Aureus)? Ask your physician.
