You did not say, so I can only guess that the light fixture is a single bulb set up. Could be that when you hit it you knocked loose or broke a wire. Turn off the electricity and take the fixture apart for inspection. If you don't see anything obvious then you may have to get your meter and start ohming out the leads, leaving the power off obviously. If you do not have a meter or do not know how to use one then call someone that does. For someone that knows what they are doing this is one of the easiest problems to fix you will ever encounter.

back the new bulb out and check it in another fixture. if its good try putting it back in. once you get it in back it out a little and tighten it once again, maybe it just wasn't tight enough . is the light on a pull chain and switch on the wall? if so, sounds stupid but double check.
