No since you would still have to pay docking fees somewhere to bring the ship in for maintenance, emptying the refuse and taking on fresh water. Also depending on where the boat is registered you may have to pay an annual owner tax.

Houseboat owners do not pay council tax or rent but they have to pay mooring fees. Large ships cost money and need maintenance and you would soon go mad from boredom. Not a brilliant scheme.

Yes its a fantastic thought and you can not only live rent free but also tax free if you position your large ship very carefully between the boundaries of two countries. That way no country can claim you are within their jurisdiction. When do you leave?
