Sure you can! It's probably easier to get a minister that way, since they don't have to be licensed to legally marry you.

Get married and dont sign the marriage certificate. You would still be married in the eyes of god. but not in the eyes of the government
Answer #3 | 22/12 2013 22:21
Most ministers will not even entertain this idea!

How exactly is the government profiting from a divorce? What you are after is a commitment ceremony. Sure have one.
Answer #5 | 23/12 2013 00:33
A wedding, by definition, is any legal ceremony that turns two single people into a married couple. So the answer to your question is no. By the way, how does signing a marriage licence stop your commitment from being about love and a desire to be together?
Answer #6 | 23/12 2013 07:53
Why not. The legal part of for the government and for your protection regarding property. Choose what is best for you. Many today live together without a legal piece of paper. Do what you feel is best for you.

????? Um... How is having a legal marriage a sign of NOT being committed, or your love not being real?? Personally, I think that what you suggest is a cop out. You can ask the church if they would perform a ceremony without it being legal, but I don't know how far you will get with it. I don't know why you would bother to go through with your 'idea' of true love and being real and commitment, as in your last sentence, you already have yourself divorced.
