Get another opinion. Go to a third doctor who specializes in such things, and see what he says. If it can be proven that what they did has caused you additional injury, you can sue for malpractice. Doctors and hospitals routinely lie about mistakes because admitting them to a patient opens them up to legal action.

Just leave it. If you're fine now, you shouldn't be trying to get compensation for something so stupid. They're only human.

Honestly, you should leave it, as long as you're okay now and its just mild or whatever don't bother bringing the law and suing into unless you're willing to spend a lot of money getting a solicitor and attempting to sue a doctor that will probably be protected by the hospitals lawyers which are very experienced. Even if you bring it to court you probably wont win.

I'm not really a fan of the "If there's blame, there's a claim" culture we have. Unless it was serious and my arm was in need of surgery or whatever I wouldn't sue, if your arm requires further medical attention then maybe you should consider suing for your expenses/time off work. If you get the surgeons opinion in writing you'd be in far better stead to achieve this.
