God no. It basically runs your entire engine.. Pumps coolant, keeps the valves in time etc..

Sort of. It does not time the valves, as that is done with a chain or ribbed timing belt, but the serpentine does drive everything else, like the alternator and water pump. So it would quickly overheat and wear down the battery. A block or so at most.

You wouldn't get very far without the serpentine belt as it drives everything including the alternator and water pump before you run down the battery or overheat the engine.
