I'm not entirely sure but I doubt they can As far as I know type 1 diabetics cannot be in the army,police,a paramedic or anything like that bus drivers etc so is imagine it's the same for an astronaut I think it's due to the risk of going hypo & that'd be dangerous in any of those occupations I suppose...then there's all the other complications too,,those jobs are tough & break times are limited & uncertain which wouldn't work for a diabetic person

I have no evidence to support this, my friend, but I think it would be extremely unlikely. There are certain professions that already prohibit diabetes, such as military service, commercial airplane pilot, PSV (Public Service Vehicle) operatives i.e. bus driver, coach driver, taxi driver, etc. Emergency service operatives, such as police, fire, ambulance. (This is the case with type 1 diabetes, but I'm not sure about type 2.) There's every chance that astronaut would be one of the 'prohibited' professions.
