uh..yeah.Possible. Plugs won't allow the fuel mix to compress properly in the cylinder due to the lack of a proper seal , causing misfire and quite possible engine failure

Yup. I know. You were just trying to save several dollars and thought: I will do it myself. Plugs are $4 ea. Socket & ratchet $10. What could possibly go wrong?

How many spark plugs are cross threaded in what year make and model of car or truck? Loss of compression and voltage leaking in the electrical system will cause an engine not to start.

It is hard to imagine anyone ever cross threading a spark plug. I have done spark plugs on thousands of car, mostly difficult ones like VW and Porsche, where you can't even see the spark plug, and never ever had any remote possibility of cross threading one. You always start them by hand, and they always start easily because the threads are fine enough. However, if you do cross thread one, you do NOT try to start it. Instead you buy a spark plug thread repair kit for $30. Although this is harder than putting in a spark plug, so if you are have cross threaded a plug, let someone else do it. Should cost you about $100 and they will have the tool and insert. If a plug is cross threaded, it may not be as deep or as well sealed as it should be, so yes it may be unable to start. But do NOT try. If it does start, the plug may go flying through the hood. It can be dangerous.
