The best time to buy anything is now that the crisis still exists. That is if you have the money. The prices are lower now.

Almost always best to delay getting a new car. Insurance on a newer car will be a LOT more. Ideally, keep the car until and unless it needs a motor or transmission. And even if it shows signs of needing a motor, it can be driven another year or two by adding oil. The amount of value your old hyundia loses year after year will be much, much smaller than the value a new car would.

Shopping time for new car is best around the beginning of August. Your car has no major problem so why not wait until then?

If you take care of your car & stay up on maintenance, you shouldn't have to worry about "major problems." If you think there is a remote chance you'll want to do monthly payments towards a newer car, well, your Elantra will lose its trade-in value year after year, so its better to do it sooner than later. Make sure you can afford doing it, of course.
