It's up to you, and if you need a reference, be careful but I'd just go to the concert. Not the same but I was Secretary to the Senior Partner in a law firm years ago. He had another secretary, an older woman who had kids and was never there during school holidays, and left at 4.30 pm every day when she was there - meaning I was left to do any corrections that needed doing (hers!). This was in the days before computers. My parents had gone to live in Germany and I wanted to visit with them over Easter (driving down, not flying) so I asked if I could have the Tuesday after Easter off (to get home and sorted out). He said no - I handed in my notice!!! I picked up another job easily (it was in the days when this was possible) after the Easter Holidays. ps Just an idea, but can you sell your concert tickets (not that I'd bet you want to!!!).

Well if you are leaving, just go to the concert! If they accepted the 2 week notice,i would not go back at all.

if the latest shift ends at 4 pm, can you go from work to the concert since it starts at 3 pm? like you said, burning bridges is bad in today's society. what if they decide not to recommend you or speak bad things about you and say you are an irresponsible worker? their friends could be your next employers because it is a small world, you don't know who they know, right?

Try to reason with them, if they still say no then tell them that you will not be there that day. You have already resigned and are giving them the standard 2 week notice. It seems like they are just making you work that day to get back at you for quitting.
