Actually I see it as the exact opposite. I do not have faith in the imaginary friend of someone else. As an adult, I find the idea of adults believing in such things to have zero meaning in a modern, civilized and well-educated world.

Not necessarily. Most atheists believe that when we die we simple perish and become one with the earth again. It's not like they believe life is meaningless, they just don't believe in all the religious beliefs on life after death and about there actually being a God.
