having lived in both northern and southern england, i would say people up north are far more friendlier than those down south. it's not arrogance, per say, but southerners tend to keep to themselves more. i dont think anywhere is really known for it's arrogance, but there are plenty of areas where there is a real sense of community. but wherever you go, you find nice - and not-so-nice - people, it's quite unfair to pin it down to a certain area.

There are both kinds. It is not right to stereotype people like that.

I am from Northern England, but ive travelled around the UK. My experience in going to Scotland (where my relatives live), I found that a small minority of people in Scotland still despise English people (old history bla bla bla) however some people are lovely. So it'd be wrong to say all people in Scotland are rude, if you get what Im saying? Its the same anywhere, you will find that there are lovely people and some not so lovely people, so you should not give a country a bad name because of a small minority. I guarantee you wont find a place in the world where every single person is a nice person. I have also found that Northern and Southern people are very different. You can really sense community in Northern countys, however Southern is alot busier so people are not as friendly. Hope this helps! Merry Christmas! X

People treat you as you treat them so obviously you are friendly and nice. Often what we say gets taken the wrong way because of the language difference.

Some of us are friendly and some of us are complete basT88rds just like in any other place on earth. Have a nice day friend.

By and large very friendly, but like all places there are some more friendly than others. Arrogant, not a British trait at all. Pleasant and communicative.
