Of course they are! But there are a bunch of requirements to observe. Best to deal with the Austrian Govt. website for more info. There is an official program to be an au pair in Austria. It allows young foreign people the opportunity to improve their German language skills and knowledge of the Austrian culture and way of life. Au pairs from the EU, EEA and Switzerland may live and work in Austria for up to three months without a residence permit. Au pairs from other countries will require a residence permit for their entire stay in Austria. See Austrian visa information for further details. Here are some: To be an au pair in Austria, you must be between 18 and 28 years old Have basic German language skills as a minimum and will need to provide evidence of this Have not resided in Austria for more than a total of 1 year in the last 5 years. Good luck!
