Viper jets look pretty fun but I'd rather spend my money on a Cessna 152 or 172 I've personally flown a Cessna 152 and it is so fun really sensitive rudder and ailerons doesn't go fast but is great plain for maneuvers.

Yes. "Light Sport Aircraft", a category of aircraft created by the FAA to do just that and be affordable.

Ever hear of Cessna, Piper, Cirrus, Pitts, or hundreds of other General Aviation mfgs? You can even build your own from Vans, Zenith, and hundreds of other kit suppliers! So yes there are a few thousand to choose from.

Van's Aircraft like the RV-4 and RV-8 get incredible gas mileage (depending on distance it can be cheaper than driving your car--strictly speaking in fuel), and are cheap to own and fly. They have bubble canopies which give the pilot 360 degree views. They're also highly maneuverable and are a fun aerobatic plane to fly.

A Champ fits the bill. A aerobatic 2 seater thats as easy to fly. Or a BD-5, that looks fun too.

You can have a great deal of fun putting around in an Aeronca Champ, or pulling gs in a Pitts, or flying a T6 like the one of the left.
