It is good to drink protein before and after workouts because your muscles rebuild from protein. It would be smarter to drink less before (10-15g) and more after (30-35g) because most bodies will only absorb about 30g at one time anyways. But protein is no the only thing that rebuilds muscles. Carbohydrates are very important for recover too. Carbs should be consumed before a workout and after. They are not bad, if you don't over do it. In the article from aboutlifting.com when you scroll down you see optimal times to drink it also. Hope this helps!

OR you could eat a normal diet, and get the same amount of protein from natural food...
