I think you need to lay off the soda or candy or whatever has you so hyper-paranoid! Try looking up some FACTS about how likely a plane crash is, cause the odds are so small that it just makes anyone like you w/ a fear of flying, look incredibly irrational (if not extremely paranoid) and straight out hypocritical as well! I mean you are worrying about a 1 in 11+ million plane crash that would (in all likely hood) NEVER happen even if she flew on a plane every day for the rest of her life! While at the same time you probably have no problem w/ her being in a car even though a lot people get killed in those every single day!

Your fear is irrational - real to you, but unfounded. The chance of an airliner in the USA even having one fatality due to an accident is one in 31 million. FACT. To put this in perspective, you, your mom, or anyone else in the United States has a 1 in 180 chance of being an auto accident in their lifetime where at least one person is killed. To equal those chances, she would need to fly 16 hours a day for 400 years. She has a much greater chance of being struck and killed by lightning, or fatally bitten by a rabid bat on her way to the airport this week. There are 35,000 fatal accidents on US highways every year. That is the equivalent of a Boeing 737 crashing and killing everyone aboard every other day of the week. I'll bet you don't worry about riding in cars, but you ought to. Relax. Aircraft accidents don't happen often enough to be concerned about it.

Me, I would be much more concerned about the traffic in Houston or Dallas than the airline ride!
