You did the right thing by going back to the same shop.. Almost everything on modern vehicle requires special tools to diagnose; one of them is scanner.. The scanner will retrieve code(s) store from the vehicle's computer and the technician will base on the code(s) plus other readings (Data) to diagnose and what to do to correct the problem. Take it there, you'll get the estimate for repair or in your case it could be transmission relate. Good luck
