Blue is cool but I think orange is correct for that year.

They would have been orange. They started out red, then came orange then a greenish blue with some black(Monte Carlo SS) then they were blue. But around 1970 they were orange.

Which engine? There were actually 2 slightly different shades of orange used for V-8s. Small blocks used one shade while big blocks used the other. The difference is minimal and most people can't tell one from the other so paint suppliers usually only make a generic Chevy orange these days. On the other hand, the inline 4 and 6 cylinder engines were painted blue.

Chevy Orange. Think of that '57 Chevy you saw one time. That orange is the same orange the engines were painted back then. Pontiac and Buick was a blue. Not sure of the exact hue.
