You buy one ticket from Bridgeport to Fordham. The conductor on the first train may punch the ticket and give it back to you, or may keep it and give you a train check (a different piece of paper) to show on the second train.

If you want to use 2 Metro-North trains, then you just need one ticket. This is probably the best option. You may also be able to use one Amtrak train and one Metro-North train. This would cost a lot more, and you would need two tickets.
