You have to ask teachers in your community colleges or high schools, as they are in a better position to answer your question. It depends on whether your state prefers MA in History or MA in education. There are pros and cons of getting either of these postgrad degrees. It also depends on which precinct and which age group you want to teach. US, I think, is cutting back on funding in education, and there may be termination of teachers. I am in an Asian city so I do not know too much about US. All the best.

Only if your MA in Education also includes the Teacher Certification program for your state.

Some schools combine the certification into the MA. Check out http://WGU.edu. Note that they don't usually admit students straight out of high school.
