He's not. He's quirky but in a very funny way. The only time he annoys me really is with the knocking and saying "Penny. Penny. Penny." thing.

Because more discerning viewers realise that the character is clearly suffering from a form of Autism and the show represents this in a sensitive way.

I had the exact feeling too when I had first watched the series. But after the second season he became tolerable and is part of the main ensemble cast. His character is the main driving force ( more like antagonist) for the rest of the group to play against. Just remember that it is just a sitcom and the writers have a format to follow. Otherwise, the show would certainly fail without Dr Sheldon.

him being annoying is actually funny. he's not though, any disney channel character is the most.
