When a color is shined on by light, it reflects its own color and absorbs the rest. For example, a red apple will reflect red light, and will absorb the other colors of light. Black only absorbs light, and doesn't reflect any, which makes it heat up more because light is energy, and the dark color does not reflect any of it and keeps it all.
