Bulgogi is Korean marinated beef briskets for bbq and Galbi/Kalbi is Korean marinated beef short ribs for bbq. Of course similar food exist in other countries like you mentioned Yakiniku or Yakitori in Japan. The marinade maybe a little difference like Korean uses Asian pear pureed in their marinade while Japanese may use bonito, hondashi in their marinade etc. The Chinese too have bbq pork (char siu) and bbq spare ribs (pai kuat) etc *
