Dll files are main components or say small files that are important to run certains softwares, Good part you can download all of them free over internet best website to download dll files are from

from the looks of it , it sounds like your icons are corrupted or someone changed it ( may be you used open with and changed the default program to open the .dll files) in order to change the icons back to default you will have to edit registry... watch the following video to make the changes in registry OR download the dll files if they are corrupted from here :
