The planetarium downtown, they have a giant telescope.

Getting more and more difficult to find dark skies. I used to go to the racetrack in Sycamore and it was dark but now all you can see is an orange glow from the lights on Randall Road. You might want to check at NIU and see if they have a telescope available. Or check Craig's List or E-bay for telescopes that are not outrageous in price.
