You can probably find a 250r ninja or cbr with not that many miles on it in the 1500-3000$ price range. check craigslist, and personally, i wouldnt pay over 2500$ for it

Check with the MSF course instructors, ask about a learners rat bike they might know about- be prepared to ride mismatched parts on a cycle that has been dropped a couple times. Next is the cycle shops backroom mechanics kids projects- might find a mix and match special there or older rat with good dealer history they took in trade- but too ugly for display floor. Next is the salvage yard and tow companies, insurance and police impound yards. I got the old BMW R50/2 from Chicago police impound many years back- replaced front end and dug into the salvage shelves couple garages- on the road 3 weeks later. Road that little cycle 3/4 years alternating with the 750/5 and R69/2

Not a chance for that price. They go for $3000 even well used. Thoses bikes have a very high resale value. Might want to continue to look at bikes on ebay and craigslist
