Well, i never owned any e30 convertibles, but I had owned about 4 e30's, all manual. What to look for in your case would be if the roof leaks or evidence of a leak, that it shifts smoothly, idles smoothly. Really depends on how mechanically inclined you are, BMW E30's are easy to work on and most of these problems could be solved with determination and elbow grease. There are plenty of forums and parts websites, so parts and information won't be a problem. Happy buying!

I own a 09 328i go to Bimmerfest there is a forum for that model you can ask the exsperts and owners you get the best advice than any other website .

1. Install the roof and get a water hose and do a leak check on the roof. 2. Start engine and let idle and look for a leaking water pump. 3. Drive the car and check for overheating.
