As a(n) (employee) pharmacist I can tell you that most supplements aren't backed up by substantial evidence. Most of them are expensive placebos. I say employee pharmacist to acknowledge the fact that our owners supply these things but really they don't work for most people. The best things for you would be regular exercise and increase the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat and reduce your intake of red meat and saturated fats. Trust me - a balanced diet provides all of the protein, minerals and vitamins the body needs to function well enough. This plus exercise = healthy weight loss and lifestyle.
