Its in your best interest to fix it. Yes, the intake manifold gasket is a $600-$800 job at most shops (been replaced on every single GM vehicle I've owned in the past) but it can be done for cheaper if you really shop around and find a mechanic who will charge you a reasonable rate for the time it actually takes to do the job.
