Actually, it is a French baguette...this is a reference to the shape of the bread and not the recipe. Most recipes for French bread use this term as that is what gives the nice crunchy crisp exterior and fluffy inside. Any recipe for French bread should be what you are searching for. You say you cannot find one that sounds right but if you haven't baked it, how do you know it's not right? The only other suggestion is to look for Italian bread...I buy whichever is available and cannot tell the difference as they are both crunchy outside and fluffy within.
