No answer to that really. The best advice would be to buy either a Canon or Nikon. Also, remember that "you get what you pay for" so buy the highest one you can afford. These days, virtually all consumer electronics within a price range perform well, so go into a store, look at their models and chose the one that feels right for you..

As for a camcorder in your budget you might want to look at the Sony HDR-CX210. It got a decent rating at Consumer Reports.org, and you should read the owner reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-CX210-Definition-Han dycam-Camcorder/product-reviews/B006K550PY/ref=sr_cr_hist_al l?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 There are lots of still cameras out there within your budget, and all of them shoot video. One to look at is the Nikon Coolpix S6500. Very Good rating by Consumer Reports. org and here are the owner reviews. http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-COOLPIX-S6500-Digital-C amera/product-reviews/B00AY6Y1NC/ref=sr_cr_hist_all?ie=UTF8& showViewpoints=1
