A copywriter writes the words and phrases that advertisers use to sell products. The requirements are a good understanding of advertising, an understanding of psychology and marketing, and a job in the advertising field that will allow you to learn how to write copy for ads--this may or may not require a degree. It's probably easier to get a job like this if you have a degree in marketing or advertising, but many ad copywriters get a start in large firms simply by being in the right place at the right time--copywriters are the lowest rung on this corporate ladder. They are hired and fired at high rates, since it takes some talent in order to make it a successful career--but it is not a high-paying career. There is a very high turnover rate.
