Rum flavored or just plain rum ... it is up to your preference for what flavor to use ... experiment ... you might invent a new drink.

Brandy is not to most common liquor to add to eggnog, but you want straight, unflavored brandy for the purpose. No sense in buying the very expensive brands either. You won't tell the difference between a $10 bottle and a $50 once it's in the eggnog.

Regular good quality Brandy is best. Eggnog can be spiked with rum, bourbon,whiskey or brandy, or enjoyed in nonalcoholic form.
