Your best bet is to work with a perinatal doctor before getting pregnant.Get in the best shape [ blood sugar wise ] you can before becoming pregnant. You will see your doctors often especially near the end.You will have a lot of ultra sounds. I had to call my doctor every day to report my blood sugar and they would tell me what to do. That made me mad . If all goes well you wll be delivered about 2-4 weeks early.Your baby will be taken to the NICU for 24 hours. Because you have diabetes, even though you work your best at maintaining a normal blood sugar, your baby's body starts producing insulin to try and lower your sugar even more. They need to watch him closely and test his sugar aften. Because he is putting out insulin, his sugar may bottom out.To avoid a low sugar they either give a bottle of sugar water or an IV . If you are up to it, you can go visit him. Goodluck.
