They operate the valves. Since the Aud's engine has hydraulic lifters, it won't be cheap due to the labor involved in removing and replacing them. How many miles on it?

In general NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is inexpensive for an Audi. The same bulb, same ID part number is more expensive at Audi that in any Porsche or VW dealership parts store. I asked. Audi owns several brands of cars, these included. Engines are listed a V6 or V8. The V must be capitalized no matter the Teen Grammar Refusal Act of 2007 that apparently rules Teenland.
