It's plainly stated in the Bible, "honor thy father and thy mother". After all, if it weren't for them, you would not be here.

As an adult some of your only real leverage is your time with your parents. I think it all depends on what type of relationship you want with your parents. But like all relationships it takes communication for all people to understand what they want an need from the relationship. I'm sorry it's complicated to talk about but that's really the best option.
