avast! seems to work really well. And the best part? 100% free. However, as a Norton Antivirus user myself, I would recommend that. I'm pretty sure Symantec offers it for around $50 or less if I'm not mistaken. It's really worth it. Also, if you have Xfinity home, Norton Security comes free with a PC registered with XFinity. It's great. For on-demand scanners, I would recommend MalwareBytes or RKill. These programs will get the job done with on-demand scans. I've seen MalwareBytes PRO work really well too, but I'm not quite sure how much that costs. A guy on youtube, MyITTech, reviews Antiviruses and gives them a pretty fair way of scoring. I recommend watching him test the Antiviruses so you know what you're in for! Hope it helps.
