Wont know until you try. If you look young, probably not. You both have to be 21 to get served.

The same laws apply to 5 star restaurants as to any other place that serves alcohol. They can lose their liquor license or be shut down for serving you. It's likely that they won't allow you to drink although your date can. With the mark up in 5 star places, it would be a significant hit to their profit margin to get caught serving you. It's not likely that you'll be able to drink, but some places aren't as vigilant as others.

If one of you is of legal drinking age, let them buy the bottle. The servers can't do anything at all about an underage person drinking at a table if the guest is pouring; the servers can't pour out of a drink for an underage guest. Just use some common sense and don't get too pickled, it'll ruin the evening. "Everything in moderation...even moderation".

They can refuse to sell him a bottle if you aren't 21. If you get caught having alcohol at a restaurant (even if it was served to you by a "guest") it is like a $10 000 fine for the restaurant and a $1 000 for the server, and the place could be closed down.

Yes, especially if he orders it instead of you. I have found that nice restaurants rarely card anyone. Most underage drinkers don't usually go to nice places to drink.

You will get proofed, as will he. Understand something, the establishments can lose their liquor license if they serve someone underage. Where did you get that idea that if you buy a bottle, they don't check for ID??
