Trans is toast, that's whats wrong. Black means the fluid cooked (over 300* for a prolonged period) and just like motor oil that is overheated, it breaks down, and does not lubricate properly. That in turn generates more heat in the transmission where bushings and bearings are, which weakens them, and normally starts to send flakes of metal through the rest of the transmission. Additionally, the clutch material starts to peel from the metal backing plate(s, there are multiple little "clutch" disks to fail) it adheres to, which goes through the rest of the transmission. Trust me. If the fluid is black, the transmission is garbage. If the trans has not been abused, something failed that led to an increase in temp, which caused the issues you now have. Problems like *this* are why I never suggest automatic transmissions when a manual is available. Yes, 99.9% of the time, it's great to be able to drive without thinking or while eating, or holding a phone to your ear, that .01% of the time is when they are a serious pain, particularly in the pocketbook. Worse if they leave you stranded somewhere.
