If it's what you want to do, pursue it. Sounds like you think it should be easy for you, so when you have the same problems every other beginner has, you think there's something wrong. There's nothing wrong. It takes a long time to get good facility and a good sound. You can't pick it up and be playing like a pro two or three years later. If you have a good teacher and make time to practice every day you'll do fine.
