Draw a right triangle. Choose one of the non-90 degree angles as theta. Let the side opposite the theta be 4. Let the side adjacent to the theta be 3. The slope of the hypotenuse is change in y over changein x, which equals opposite over adjacent which equals the angle whose tangent function is 4/3.

The slope of the line is NOT 4/3 here. Slope of the line is arctan(4/3) This means the equation of line is y = (arctan(4/3))(x) + C where C is a constant. The slope means derivative. And to find the equation of line you have to integrate it. This is why integrating arctan(4/3) we get the equation above
